Squarespace is cutting approximately 19% of its global workforce, affecting around 300 employees, company representative Jeff Seedman confirmed in reports published Nov. 2, 2026. The restructuring reduces staffing at a business that supplies website-building tools to companies and independent creators.
Seedman told The Verge that the changes were intended to simplify operations and sharpen priorities. The outlet reported that affected employees would receive 16 weeks of base pay and healthcare benefits into May 2027. TechCrunch separately obtained confirmation from Seedman.
Workforce changes, not a product shutdown
The confirmed cuts should not be treated as evidence that a particular product is being discontinued or that customers’ existing websites will stop operating. The cited statements do not establish either outcome.
Squarespace’s own Forma page currently describes a beta for building websites and apps, with a public waitlist and a login for people who already have access. That verifies a product initiative, not broad availability or a completed migration of existing customers.
The timing of an AI product initiative and a workforce reduction does not, on its own, establish that automation replaced the affected jobs. The company representative’s stated rationale concerns organizational simplification; the reports do not quantify work transferred to AI.
For businesses relying on the platform, the distinction matters: staffing changes are confirmed, while any effect on implementation support, product delivery or service quality would require separate evidence.
