Asure Software and Vertex announced Nov. 2 a partnership pairing payroll tax calculation with filing and remittance services, giving Asure a new route into the U.S. enterprise payroll market.

The agreement combines Vertex’s calculation technology with Asure’s Payroll Tax Management services, including payments to tax agencies, filings, W-2 processing and management of agency notices. The companies described the arrangement as a distribution opportunity rather than an acquisition.

A broader payroll offering

Asure will be able to offer Vertex technology alongside its own services to customers and prospective buyers. The companies also expect to pursue business through payroll and human capital management providers, potentially reaching employers through platforms they already use.

Asure CEO Pat Goepel framed the agreement as a way to expand access to the company’s infrastructure. The announcement did not provide a revenue commitment, customer conversion target or timetable for realizing additional sales.

Distribution is the business consequence

Asure’s September-quarter securities filing describes an existing mix of direct sales and partner programs. It distinguishes resellers that put their own brand on Asure products from referral partners that supply customer leads without reselling the software.

That established channel structure helps explain the commercial significance of the new relationship: it could place Asure’s downstream services alongside a separate calculation provider instead of requiring employers to buy filing support independently.

Calculation and execution remain different tasks. A combined offering does not, by itself, demonstrate error-free filings, guaranteed regulatory compliance or completed customer migrations. The companies’ anticipated distribution benefits remain forward-looking.
