Nordson completed its acquisition of Swiss sensor manufacturer Contrinex on Oct. 23, 2026, adding factory-automation technology to its test-and-inspection business. A company securities filing put the transaction’s enterprise value at approximately $168 million.
Nordson’s announcement says Contrinex generates about $50 million in annual revenue and employs nearly 500 people. The business, based in Corminboeuf, Switzerland, will become part of Nordson’s Advanced Technology Solutions segment.
Sensing broadens the automation portfolio
Contrinex makes inductive and photoelectric position sensors, along with measurement sensors that incorporate logic. Nordson says the acquisition adds capabilities for harsh operating environments and miniature precision-positioning applications.
The company frames the purchase as an expansion in factory automation and control. That is management’s strategic rationale, not a demonstrated post-acquisition improvement in growth or profitability. The announcement does not provide a quantified integration-savings target.
Filing discloses transaction value
Nordson’s Form 8-K, reproduced by StockTitan, says wholly owned subsidiary Nordson London Limited purchased all outstanding Contrinex equity from Annette Heimlicher. The filing describes approximately $168 million as enterprise value; it should not be confused with Contrinex’s roughly $50 million in annual sales.
Investing.com also reported the completed purchase, noting that the press release itself did not disclose financial terms. The securities filing supplies that additional transaction detail.
For industrial customers, the immediate business change is ownership and placement within Nordson’s portfolio. Whether the combination leads to broader product availability or better operating performance will depend on integration and execution, rather than the completion announcement alone.
