Gartner will release third-quarter financial results Nov. 3, 2026, before U.S. markets open, providing a fresh view of demand for business and technology advice as enterprise leaders prepare their next spending plans.
Preview — The company’s Oct. 20 announcement confirms an investor webcast at 8 a.m. Eastern time. The release and earnings supplement will be available through its investor relations website.
Contract value is a different lens from revenue
Gartner’s prior quarterly release reported $5.3 billion in foreign-currency-neutral contract value, up 1.7% year over year and 0.3% sequentially. Global Technology Sales contract value was approximately flat sequentially, while Global Business Sales increased 1.2%.
The company’s earnings supplement defines contract value as the annualized value of subscription-related contracts in effect at a particular date, regardless of their duration. It is not the amount of revenue recognized during that quarter.
NextNow’s reporting framework: Compare both measures when the new results arrive. Revenue describes activity recognized over a period; contract value provides a point-in-time measure of the subscription business. A change in one should not automatically be presented as an identical change in the other.
Preserve the comparison basis
Second-quarter reported revenue was $1.68 billion, down 0.6% year over year. Adjusted revenue, which excludes the divested Digital Markets operation from the comparison, increased 2.8%. These are different presentations, not contradictory figures.
The new release should be checked for the same distinctions before drawing conclusions about demand. Currency-neutral trends also need to remain separate from reported-dollar growth. Switching comparison bases between periods could make a modest change look stronger or weaker than the underlying disclosure supports.
Segment detail provides another useful check. In the second quarter, Insights revenue increased 2.1%, Conferences grew 15.5% and Consulting declined 8.8%, all on a reported basis. Those prior results establish a mixed starting point, not a forecast of how the third quarter ended.
Questions for technology leaders
Listen for management’s explanation of renewals, new sales and differences between technology clients and other business functions. If executives connect a trend to AI, ask what evidence supports that connection rather than treating the label as a complete explanation.
For buyers of research and advisory services, Gartner’s financial results can inform questions about demand and supplier priorities. They do not establish whether a particular engagement improved a customer’s decision, delivered savings or replaced internal work. Those outcomes require engagement-specific evidence.
The confirmed news event is Tuesday’s earnings report. Updated contract values, revenue trends and any revised outlook remain unknown until Gartner publishes them; this preview does not assume a beat, a miss or a change in guidance.
