Rapid News Brief
Tripadvisor announced Nov. 5, 2026, that CEO Matt Goldberg and Chief Financial Officer Michael Noonan will leave on separate timetables, setting up a CEO search alongside an interim finance handoff at the travel company.
Two departure dates, one interim appointment
The company’s management-transition announcement says Goldberg will remain CEO through Feb. 16, 2027. He is to leave his roles as president, chief executive and director. The board is working with an executive search firm to identify candidates.
Noonan will remain CFO through Dec. 31, 2026. Tripadvisor says he intends to resign to pursue another opportunity. Kristen Dalton, currently chief strategy and operations officer, is scheduled to become interim CFO Jan. 1, 2027.
The interim designation matters: Thursday’s release does not announce a permanent finance chief or name a successor CEO. It lays out continued service by the current executives and a separate starting date for Dalton.
An internal finance handoff during the search
Tripadvisor’s SEC filing traces Dalton’s background inside the company. She joined in October 2019 as vice president of financial planning and analysis, later served as chief operating officer of Brand Tripadvisor and then became its president. She has held the chief strategy and operations role since November 2025.
The filing also distinguishes internal decisions from public disclosure: Noonan notified the board Nov. 3, and Goldberg’s separation agreement was signed Nov. 4. The management announcement followed Nov. 5. Those dates are not the executives’ scheduled departure dates.
Reuters reported the departures as Tripadvisor continues to reposition around experiences, including the Viator tours-and-activities platform, while simplifying legacy operations. That strategy context does not establish a cause for either executive’s departure.
For commercial partners, the immediate point is continuity under an announced timetable, not an already vacant leadership team. The finance handoff has a named interim successor; the permanent CEO selection remains a separate process.
