Cognizant announced Oct. 26, 2026, that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development selected it for a five-year technology framework, extending AI-enabled services into the bank’s software, infrastructure and workplace operations.
The agreement supports the EBRD’s Tech Blueprint modernization program. Cognizant’s announcement did not disclose a contract value or quantify anticipated savings.
Two service models
The framework combines managed services tied to outcomes with services based on fixed capacity. Its scope covers cloud infrastructure, data and security, software engineering, workplace management, automation and AI.
Cognizant plans to use Neuro IT Operations for service visibility, Flowsource for AI-assisted software development and WorkNEXT for workplace support, including voice and translation. These are planned applications; the announcement does not establish achieved performance improvements.
Modernization within a broader strategy
The EBRD’s separately published 2026–30 strategy identifies digital technology as an enabler of its development work. That strategy also prioritizes support for Ukraine and expansion into sub-Saharan Africa and Iraq. It provides institutional context, not a separate confirmation of this supplier agreement.
For technology leaders, the distinction between buying capacity and contracting for results is the operational detail to watch. The five-year term establishes the relationship’s intended duration, while service reliability and delivery improvements remain outcomes to be demonstrated.
