Apple unveiled an OLED iPad mini on Oct. 26, adding a new compact-tablet option for business buyers while reserving its highest CPU and neural-processing configuration for the 512GB model.

Apple said preorders open Oct. 28, with availability beginning Nov. 6. U.S. prices start at $699 for Wi-Fi and $849 for Wi-Fi plus cellular.

Storage changes the hardware choice

Apple’s technical specifications list a five-core CPU and 16-core Neural Engine in the 128GB and 256GB versions. The 512GB version has a six-core CPU and dual 16-core Neural Engine. All three use the A20 Pro chip and a seven-core GPU.

That distinction makes storage capacity more than a file-space decision for teams evaluating on-device AI workloads. The specifications describe different hardware; they do not establish how a particular business application will perform.

Display and deployment details

The specifications list an 8.5-inch OLED screen, with optional nano-texture glass limited to the 256GB and 512GB configurations. Apple lists 600 nits of full-screen brightness and peak brightness of 1,200 nits for HDR content only.

The tablet supports Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil with USB-C, sold separately. Wi-Fi models weigh 255 grams, while cellular models weigh 263 grams, according to Apple.

For buyers comparing a shared fleet, the immediate task is to match each configuration to its intended workload and accessories. Apple’s announcement sets an ordering timetable, not evidence of savings or productivity gains in a deployed workplace.
