OpenAI said Aug. 13 that Chief Revenue Officer Denise Dresser will leave the artificial intelligence company after a transition period, with former Wiz president and chief operating officer Dali Rajic taking over its global revenue organization. The change comes about eight months after Dresser joined OpenAI to oversee enterprise sales and customer success.
Dresser disclosed her decision in a LinkedIn post containing the note she sent to employees. She said she made the “difficult decision” to leave OpenAI in the coming weeks to pursue other opportunities. She did not identify her next role or cite a disagreement with the company.
Dresser said she has been working with OpenAI President and co-founder Greg Brockman on the transition and will continue supporting the team and customers in the near term. OpenAI separately confirmed her departure and Rajic’s appointment in an official company announcement. Axios independently reported both moves.
Dresser leaves less than a year after taking the role
OpenAI appointed Dresser on Dec. 9, 2025, giving her responsibility for global revenue strategy across enterprise accounts and customer success. She arrived after serving as CEO of Slack and spending more than a decade at Salesforce, where she led sales organizations serving large corporate customers.
Her mandate placed her at the center of OpenAI’s effort to turn widespread use of ChatGPT and its application programming interface into recurring business revenue. In an April company essay, Dresser said enterprise customers represented more than 40% of OpenAI revenue and were on track to reach parity with consumer revenue by the end of 2026. Those figures were OpenAI’s own account of its business mix.
OpenAI credited Dresser with building its revenue team, strengthening major customer relationships and establishing a commercial foundation during what it described as a formative period. The company said she will remain through the transition rather than leave immediately.
Rajic takes over the global revenue organization
Rajic most recently served as president and chief operating officer of cybersecurity company Wiz, which was acquired by Google. Before Wiz, he was president and COO of Zscaler and chief customer and revenue officer at AppDynamics.
OpenAI said Rajic will be responsible for building a more repeatable, metrics-led revenue operation as the company expands globally. The company also announced a strategic partnership with Chad Peets and RPT Partners to support development of its go-to-market team.
The appointment gives OpenAI a revenue leader with experience scaling enterprise cybersecurity companies and selling technical products to large organizations. It also signals that the company expects its next phase of growth to require more formal operating discipline around sales, customer execution and international expansion.
Why the succession matters
The chief revenue officer connects OpenAI’s models and products to the companies expected to become long-term paying customers. A transition in that position can affect major-account relationships, sales planning, hiring and forecast cadence, even when a handoff is orderly.
OpenAI is framing the move as a planned succession. Dresser said she will remain for several weeks, and the company publicly named her replacement on the same day. Neither Dresser nor OpenAI disclosed a specific reason beyond her decision to pursue other opportunities.
For customers and competitors, the immediate question is therefore operational rather than speculative: how quickly Rajic can take control of the revenue organization while preserving the relationships and execution systems Dresser established.
