Rapid News Brief

Daimler Truck reported stronger third-quarter earnings on Nov. 6, with North America driving the improvement as the manufacturer retained its full-year margin forecast. Adjusted group earnings before interest and taxes reached 1.124 billion euros, compared with 648 million euros a year earlier, according to its financial release.

North America leads the earnings gain

Reuters identified North America as the main contributor to the group’s improvement. It reported adjusted operating profit of 691 million euros in that division, a 169% gain, with an adjusted operating margin of 12.1%, up from 6.4%. Regional unit sales increased 51% to 45,629.

Reuters also put the group’s result above the company-compiled 1.10 billion euro consensus forecast. The comparison with that estimate is separate from the year-over-year increase: one measures the result against expectations, the other against an earlier reporting period.

Volumes were already public

Friday’s financial disclosure adds earnings to sales figures published on Oct. 8. In that earlier operational update, Daimler Truck reported 91,260 third-quarter vehicles, compared with 72,277 a year earlier. Mercedes-Benz Trucks sales increased 13%, while Daimler Buses sales fell 16%.

Battery-electric trucks and buses moved in the opposite direction from group volumes. The company reported 1,207 such vehicles, down from 1,679, a 28% decline. For the first nine months of 2026, electric-unit sales fell 2%. The overall vehicle-volume increase therefore does not describe every category.

The October figures cover continuing operations following Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corp.’s integration into ARCHION on April 1. The group count includes eliminations for transactions between segments, so adding individual division totals is not the same calculation.

Margin guidance stays unchanged

Industrial-business revenue in the new release was 11.635 billion euros, up 20%. Its adjusted return on sales was 9.1%, compared with 6.2% a year earlier. Daimler Truck reaffirmed its full-year 2026 expectation of 7% to 9% for that industrial-business margin measure.

The stronger quarter did not reverse the nine-month comparison: adjusted group EBIT for January through September fell 10% to 2.460 billion euros from 2.748 billion euros.
