Hershey narrowed its full-year organic sales-growth outlook to about 3% on Oct. 29, 2026, as consumer caution complicated the candy maker’s demand picture ahead of Halloween despite higher quarterly sales and earnings.

The updated target compares with a previous range of 3% to 3.5%, according to Hershey’s results release. The company now expects reported net sales growth of about 5%, the high end of its former range of 4.5% to 5%.

Reported and organic growth diverge

For the quarter ended Sept. 27, net sales rose 3% to $3.276 billion. Organic, constant-currency net sales increased 0.8%. These measures are not interchangeable: the organic figure removes effects that remain in the reported total.

Hershey reported net income of $580.8 million and diluted earnings of $2.88 per share. Adjusted diluted earnings were $2.64 per share, a separate measure from reported earnings.

CEO Kirk Tanner said consumers were becoming more cautious while the company’s demand-creation initiatives were gaining momentum.

Halloween warning remains an outlook

Reuters reported that Hershey warned higher gasoline prices, inflation and interest rates could affect candy purchases this Halloween. That warning concerns potential spending behavior, not a final accounting of holiday sales.

For retail and brand teams, the distinction matters. Stronger reported profit does not establish stronger unit demand, and a full-year sales outlook does not settle what shoppers will buy during the remaining holiday period.
