GXO Logistics and Agility Robotics announced an expanded partnership on Oct. 26 to bring Digit humanoid robots to two additional U.S. facilities, extending a commercial warehouse program into a planned multi-site rollout.

The companies expect deployments in Statesville, North Carolina, and Lebanon, Tennessee, to begin in early 2027. The robots would support e-commerce fulfillment by handling repetitive material-moving tasks.

Digit 4 first, Digit 5 later

The joint announcement says the new sites will initially use Digit 4 and migrate to Digit 5 when the newer version becomes commercially available. Agility’s separate commercial update describes the same expected sequence.

The expansion is therefore not a claim that Digit 5 is already operating at either new location. The timing remains prospective.

Expanding an existing operating model

The companies began a proof-of-concept program in late 2023 and signed a multi-year Robots-as-a-Service agreement in June 2024. At GXO’s Flowery Branch, Georgia, operation, Digit has moved totes onto conveyors alongside existing automation, according to the companies.

GXO also uses Agility Arc, a cloud-based fleet-management and integration platform. That makes the rollout an operations and software-integration undertaking, not simply the delivery of additional hardware.

For warehouse leaders, the next evidence to watch is deployment at the named sites and performance within their actual workflows. An expansion agreement does not, by itself, establish a staffing reduction, a guaranteed productivity gain or equivalent results across different facilities.
