Netflix announced exclusive rights to the 2030 FIFA World Cup in Spain and Andorra on Oct. 13, 2026, adding all 104 matches to its live-sports plans while preserving a package of free television coverage in Spain.

Rapid News Brief: The territorial limits and free-to-air provisions are central to the deal. This is not an announcement of worldwide Netflix rights or a subscription-only arrangement for every match in Spain.

Streaming rights and free coverage coexist

In its announcement, Netflix says one match per matchday will be available free in Spain. A package including every Spain match, both semifinals and the final will be made available to a national free-to-air broadcaster.

The company says more details about that broadcast partnership will come closer to the tournament. It has not named the partner in the announcement, so the free-to-air arrangement should not be attributed to a specific network.

Netflix also plans pregame, halftime and postgame programming with a Spanish perspective, plus a daily roundup on match days. Those are programming plans for 2030, not shows already on the service.

A larger sports relationship, with limits

Broadband TV News reported that financial terms were not disclosed. The publication places the agreement alongside Netflix’s rights to the 2027 and 2031 Women’s World Cups in the United States and Canada.

The different territories matter. A rights agreement in Spain and Andorra does not establish availability in another market, and the women’s tournament arrangements are separate from the men’s 2030 package.

For media executives, the deal illustrates how streaming rights and broadcast access can sit within the same event strategy. It does not yet establish the cost of customer acquisition, advertising revenue or subscriber retention attributable to the tournament.

The next concrete distribution milestone is the free-to-air partnership detail Netflix has promised. Until then, the confirmed story is the rights acquisition and announced access framework, not a completed commercial outcome.
