Snap said Nov. 4 it plans to replace global daily-user reporting with monthly-user figures beginning with its first-quarter 2027 results, changing how readers can compare Snapchat’s public audience disclosures.

The company will also stop reporting regional daily active users and regional average revenue per user. The transition is planned for its first-quarter 2027 Form 10-Q, not the fourth-quarter 2026 report.

A different reporting window

Snap currently calculates quarterly monthly active users by averaging three month-end counts, each covering the preceding 30 days. Under the planned method, the reported figure will cover activity during the quarter’s final 30 days rather than that three-month average.

The definition will also expand to Snapchat-branded products accessed through its apps or websites, including Apple Watch access. Snap said the combined changes to its monthly-user definition would have changed its third-quarter figure by less than 1%.

Revenue per user changes, too

Snap plans to calculate global average revenue per user by dividing quarterly revenue by the reported monthly-user count. Its current denominator is average daily active users. The two measures will not be directly interchangeable.

For the third quarter, Snap reported 495 million average daily users and 977 million monthly users under its existing method. TechCrunch reported the daily figure, up from 493 million in the preceding quarter.

Snap said daily engagement remains important, but its planned disclosures put greater emphasis on longer-term audience scale. The change concerns company reporting; it is not an announcement that advertisers are losing campaign-measurement tools.
