Politico is expanding its energy and environmental coverage with five newsletters, turning one of the most consequential policy beats in technology and infrastructure into a larger subscription product.
The publisher plans to launch the new lineup Aug. 31, according to Adweek. The slate includes Surge, a daily global newsletter focused on rising electricity demand; State Power; Power Moves; Morning Environment; and a revamped Morning Energy.
Four of the five products will be available only through Politico Pro, the company’s premium policy-intelligence service. Surge will remain outside the Pro paywall.
The expansion follows a broader investment in energy reporting. Politico Pro has said it is increasing state-level coverage, adding dedicated Texas energy reporting and putting more attention on the intersection of federal policy, electricity demand and industry.
The timing is notable because energy has become a technology story as much as a climate or policy story. Data centers, AI infrastructure, grid capacity and industrial electrification are forcing companies far outside the traditional energy sector to follow power markets and regulation more closely.
