Samsung Electronics reported on Oct. 29 that third-quarter operating profit reached 107.4 trillion won on revenue of 195.3 trillion won, as demand for AI-server memory strengthened the chip business while consumer-device operations remained under pressure.

The results cover the three months ended Sept. 30. Samsung said both revenue and operating profit reached quarterly records. The Associated Press reported that this was the company’s fourth consecutive quarter of record revenue and profit.

Memory demand and investment

Samsung’s Device Solutions division generated 147.1 trillion won in revenue and 106.5 trillion won in operating profit. The company attributed the memory business’s performance to its AI-focused product mix, capacity constraints and higher market prices.

Samsung said it expanded sales of HBM4 high-bandwidth memory and addressed growing demand for server solid-state drives. It expects AI-related demand to outpace industry supply in 2027. That is the company’s outlook, not a guarantee of future sales or pricing.

Third-quarter capital expenditure totaled 29 trillion won. Samsung expects full-year spending of about 84.4 trillion won, including 76.8 trillion won for Device Solutions.

A different picture in devices

The Device eXperience division posted an operating loss of 0.8 trillion won despite an 8% sequential revenue increase, Samsung said.

For technology buyers, the distinction matters: strong supplier earnings do not establish that memory availability has improved. Samsung’s supply outlook and investment plans describe different time horizons, and future capacity should not be treated as inventory available for immediate procurement.
