Coursera announced Oct. 26, 2026, that Amy Weisenbach will become chief marketing officer on Nov. 30, adding a former New York Times marketing leader as the learning company works to expand audience engagement across Coursera and Udemy.

The announcement sets a future start date; it does not say she has already taken up the role. Chief Executive Greg Hart highlighted her experience connecting consumer demand with paid digital content.

A background in subscription marketing

Weisenbach most recently led marketing at The Times across News, Games, Cooking, Audio, Wirecutter and The Athletic, according to Coursera.

Her earlier discussion with WARC, published May 28, examined brand trust and recurring audience habits across the newspaper’s expanding products. That provides background on her marketing approach, not evidence of results at her new employer.

Discovery and engagement are the mandate

Hart’s announcement places the appointment within Coursera’s work bringing its platform together with Udemy. He emphasized helping people discover learning content and building lasting engagement.

The operational question is how that experience translates from journalism and related subscriptions to skills development. A leadership appointment establishes responsibility, but does not itself demonstrate stronger acquisition, retention or learning outcomes.

For marketing executives, the consequential detail is the move of a digital-content specialist into education—not an announced campaign, pricing change or quantified growth commitment.
