Acuity agreed to acquire Parameter Technologies for $675 million, the companies announced Oct. 26, adding data-center monitoring and leak-detection capabilities to its building-controls business.
Parameter would join Distech Controls within Acuity Intelligent Spaces after closing. Both the buyer’s announcement and Parameter’s separate release describe an agreement, not a completed acquisition.
Connecting detection with controls
Parameter supplies leak detection, environmental monitoring and battery monitoring for data centers and other critical infrastructure. Acuity said the combination would connect those capabilities with Distech’s edge controls.
Parameter said the businesses already work through shared system integrators, distributors and cooling-equipment manufacturers. The proposed combination therefore concerns both product capabilities and the channels that install and support them.
For operators, the relevant distinction is between detecting a condition and deciding how to respond. Bringing monitoring and controls into one corporate portfolio does not, by itself, establish that every installation will operate as a single integrated system.
Financing and closing remain ahead
Acuity said it anticipates financing the purchase with $500 million in borrowings and the balance from cash. It expects closing in its second quarter of fiscal 2027, subject to customary conditions, including the applicable antitrust waiting period.
That is the company’s fiscal timetable, not a statement that closing will occur in the second calendar quarter of 2027. It remains an expectation rather than a completed milestone.
Customers evaluating the combined proposition will need installation-specific information about compatibility, responsibility for alerts and service support. The acquisition agreement alone does not answer those operational questions.
