Coca-Cola selected Omnicom as its North American media partner and retained WPP Open X across most other markets, the beverage company announced Oct. 22, 2026. The outcome changes the allocation of a major advertiser’s media work while preserving its global creative relationship with WPP.

Rapid News Brief — The company said the new structure will be introduced in phases beginning Dec. 1. Announcing the roster does not mean every part of the transition is already operating under the new arrangements.

A regional change within a global system

Coca-Cola said Omnicom will work closely with WPP StudioX in North America. WPP Open X remains its media partner outside North America, Japan and South Korea. Dentsu continues to handle media in Japan and South Korea, which were outside the review.

WPP Open X also remains the company’s global creative partner, a role that Coca-Cola said was not included in the review. The announcement should therefore not be characterized as a wholesale replacement of WPP.

Marketing Dive reported on the outcome Oct. 23, placing it within Coca-Cola’s continuing marketing transformation. Its coverage identified the North American appointment alongside the continuing WPP relationship, rather than treating the result as a single global account changing hands.

Execution moves to the handoffs

For marketing leaders, the practical consequence is a need for regional media responsibilities and shared creative work to fit together. A roster identifies the partners; a working operating model also needs clear approvals, ownership of campaign information and a way to resolve overlapping responsibilities.

Those are implementation questions, not findings about the agencies’ performance. A phased transition gives stakeholders a timetable to organize around, but it does not independently demonstrate lower costs, faster campaign delivery or improved commercial results.

The useful distinction for other advertisers is between choosing specialist partners and making their work function as one system. Coca-Cola has confirmed its selections and transition start date. The resulting execution and business outcomes remain separate matters to assess after implementation.
