Homebase announced Homebase Assistant on Oct. 20, 2026, opening limited access to an AI tool for businesses managing hourly employees. The product targets staffing coordination and administrative work, including finding shift replacements and identifying timecard issues before payroll.
The company’s Business Wire release says the assistant is available to a limited number of businesses. Owners must check whether they qualify for early access; the announcement does not establish unrestricted availability.
Shift coverage keeps an approval step
Homebase says the software identifies available employees when a colleague calls out and coordinates replacement outreach using the owner’s preferences and historical information.
SiliconANGLE’s reporting adds an important detail: employees are not contacted until the owner approves, after which the assistant continues outreach until someone accepts the shift.
Administrative checks, not guaranteed outcomes
The company says the assistant flags missing time punches, overtime trends and differences between scheduled and worked hours. It also describes candidate interviewing and scheduling among the product’s intended tasks.
SiliconANGLE places the launch after Homebase’s earlier hiring, scheduling and payroll assistants. The new announcement is therefore an extension of an existing product strategy, not the company’s first use of AI.
For small operators, the practical question is how much coordination the tool can complete while leaving approvals and corrections clear. The release does not independently establish hours saved, better hiring decisions or error-free payroll, and businesses should not treat a product announcement as proof of those outcomes.
